1 Kings 18: 19-45 Acts 4: 23-31
From my personal experience prayer is just below the surface of a lot of my daily activity.
I will find myself thinking of a person(s) or situation which looms larger than life on my daily horizon. I find an uneasiness in myself with being able to successfully deal with some matter in a way which is beneficial. This creates a desire for God’s power and presence and wisdom in that event or circumstance.
It is good to have others to pray with at times, particularly those with one heart and mind within Christ’s body, the church family.
Some people form prayer partners or designate prayer places or times for reflection. We need to pray about our prayer life.It is like our muscles which grow stronger as we use them or our brains as we utilise their regenerative properties. Prayer life is a living, moving, ongoing relationship essentially with our loving Heavenly Father, the maker of Heaven and Earth, our Lord, the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
It is this prayer life which is eternal, for our relationship with God continues when everything else stops, even our physical breathing here on Earth. We are made to have an eternal relationship first and foremost with the living God. This is the foundational and most significant aspect of our life.
It is as we commit a matter to prayer that it goes out of the burden of our own efforts and is caught up with the eternal workings of God. “The Lord is near. Don’t worry about anything, but in everything through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses every thought, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4: 5-7)
